Feedback of Rough Cut

When asking what the strengths of our rough cuts were, the feedback we got was:

• The variety of shots
• The continuity of the editing flowed well
• It makes sense
• The shots were good quality

When asked what the weaknesses were:

• More editing needs to be done on the narrative
• The lighting is a bit low
• The attic scene was quite dark
• Wasn't always cut to the beat

Music Promo – shoot day write up 1. The day before our shoot we helped set up the attic scene. This involved setting up the mise en scen to make it look convincing. We put in boxes, an old radio, a tv and the projector. 2. On the morning of the shoot day I felt relatively happy and was ready to shoot. I felt confident the day would go well. 3. I was well prepared and I had bought in all my required props and costume. This was cutlery, plates, flowers, a coat and some shoes. 4. I thought that the studio looked really good. The attic however, was a bit low down we all felt, but it looked out better after we had got our artist in for the shoot. 5. On the day I played more of a directing role, telling Jo what to do, and the look we wanted for our video. I did some gripping and also some camera work but mostly directing, 6. I think talking to Jo I was particularly good at. I wasn’t rude or in her face when I was telling her what to do. 7. The make up artist Jo had wanted was very late for the shoot, so we started around 2 and half hours after planned. We then had trouble filming so we had to do another shoot day. 8. I think the attic sequences looked beautiful, because of the mise en scene and the way Jo was moving and singing to the track. It really fitted well and worked. 9. Timing. Because of the delays we had to do another shoot day, which didn’t go very successfully. We also had to change actors, which was a pain. I had to play the male character, so it was difficult to direct and act at the same time. 10. I think we managed them well. We were always getting them drinks, or asking if they were ok. 11. The part I enjoyed the most was working with real people, rather than people in school. However, it was harder but it prepares you for working in the real world where things may go wrong or people may be late. 12. I think looking at the different sequences. With the different angles it will be interesting see the different takes of each sequence. 13. Pretty badly, we argued a lot and this set us back a lot when working. 14. Try to keep calm and work with what you’ve got. 15. Because we ran out of time and light we are going to have to change the look of our digi pack, which isn’t a massive issue.
